The 2022 LAM Summer Symposium
June 12 - 26 (detailed schedule below)
Ages 10-18
Application Closed, notification of acceptance by May 15th*
Join us this summer for an incredible music-packed 2 weeks at LAM! In this one-of-a-kind program, students choose customized learning tracks in chamber music, composition, and audio production (read more about each learning track HERE). Throughout the day students work in small groups with our faculty, receiving an immersive learning experience focused on each student's growth. We build community through symposium-wide sessions, beginning each morning with movement and mindfulness and ending with sessions lead by local, regional, and national guest artists. The programming at the symposium is truly a blend of tradition and innovation. We also offer workshop-only packages for younger students or for those who want to take part in guest sessions only.
*acceptance is based on capacity and groupings based on the level of other students who apply. Because we are working in such an intimate setting we prioritize the educational placement of each student in an appropriate group.

“During the last two summers, you may have wondered “where could joy be found?” It could be found in the childrens’ laughter beneath and among the branches of the giant magnolia tree beside the Louisville Academy of Music. It could be heard in the Academy’s Summer Symposium studios where students played chamber music together, guided by excellent professional musicians. It could be seen on the faces of parents when attending the Symposium Recital.”
