Anya Shorey-Smith, M.S., is a doctoral candidate in Experimental Psychology at the University of Louisville. She has a passion for teaching people about psychology and the psychology of music. Ms. Shorey-Smith recently designed and taught an undergraduate class on Music Perception and Cognition in which students use their interests in music to develop their research skills. Her own research examines how people from a wide range of backgrounds perceive music and speech. She is especially interested in understanding the ways a listener's musical experience connects to their expectations for pitch in music.
