Overview:

The Louisville Academy of Music is offering a student internship for one LAM student to gain knowledge and hands-on experience with recording, mixing, and mastering for live musical instruments. This internship will take place between October 2024 and May 2025. Students will receive several hours of intensive personal instruction and a small honorarium upon completion of the internship. Upon completion of the internship, the student will have the knowledge and experience to assist with recording sessions around Louisville and will have a valuable item to add to applications and resumes. 

Student Expectations: 

During the internship, students are expected to:

  • Attend regular private lessons with a mentor from LAM and complete all assignments from the previous lesson

  • Assist with at least 2 LAM recording days

  • Assist with recording and producing at least 2 LAM recitals/showcases

LAM Provisions:

  • Free private lessons with a mentor

  • Extended, unsupervised access to LAM’s studio workstations and equipment (microphones, audio interface, and cords) during LAM business hours

  • $200 honorarium upon completion of the internship

  • Microphone placement for different musical instruments and ensembles

  • Recording session etiquette

  • Mixing and mastering

  • Ableton Live Suite

  • Other topics at the discretion of the mentor
