LAM World Music Ensemble
All are welcome to join the LAM World Music Ensemble with Penelope Quesada who will guide this exciting 14 week session around the world with music.
Students will use Orff percussion instruments as well as their voices to make beautiful music from cultures near and far. This is a wonderful class to learn ensemble playing, strengthen community, learn globally, be exposed to new languages, and develop percussion and vocal skills. The session will end in a performance for families plus additional community performances. Read more about Penelope Quesada’s experience as a performer and teacher here.
No prior experience necessary- instruments and music will be provided.

The Children’s Choir at Louisville Academy of Music
This is a choir open to all singers between the ages of 6 and 10. This group setting offers a great alternative for children who love to sing but might not be quite ready for private voice lessons. Children will be introduced to concepts such as breath, singing technique, pitch, rhythm and will begin to sightread notes. Solfege based on movable ‘Do’ will be the standard. Singing is all done in unison to build intonation and group singing skills. The choir will meet once each week for 45 minute sessions and will perform in the Spring Recital at the end of the 10-week block.
Ages 6-10
Fridays 4-4:45 pm

Topics covered include composition, structure, harmony, synthesizers, waveforms, filters, EQ, compression, and mixing/mastering. Both current and historical electronic music works will be listened to and analyzed.
Ages 12+. All experience/skill levels welcome.
Group Violin
This 10-week session will cover early ensemble playing and music theory. Students will also have the opportunity to perform solo pieces from their lessons with a pianist for their peers. We will perform a final group concert and will have other community performance opportunities as a group. This is the perfect way for students to strengthen their violin playing and to build community alongside their private lessons. To create a more hands-on experience, the class is taught by two violin teachers plus a pianist for solo and group playing.
